The effect of mining on the concentration of heavy metals in soils from areas around tantalite mines was studied. Forty topsoil samples and fifteen control samples were collected with hand auger at 0 – 20 cm depth from the study area. The samples were prepared and analysed for heavy metals such as Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Pb, Mn, Ni and Zn using atomic absorption spectrophotometer, AAS. The results of the metal analyses in soils obtained for the samples have the mean concentrations of......................................................................................................................
